Are you wondering how I went from staying home to raise my babies to a root cause practitioner? Let’s back it up a bit! I have always been an active, “healthy” person. Always exercising, eating salads, avoided drugs, only drank socially and went to bed early. In my late teens I started getting white spots around my eyes, so I went to the dermatologist and they informed me I had mild vitiligo.
It’s “autoimmue” they told me, and there is no treatment for it. They gave me some ointment (that did nothing) and then sent me across the hall to the endocrinologist because “thyroid issues go hand in hand with vitiligo.” The result of that appointment was Hashimoto’s (hypothyroidism) diagnosis and a prescription that they told me I’d be on for the rest of my life because there is no “cure.” At that time, I did some digging into what autoimmunity was but didn’t get very far.
